Can’t go back now…

I am a self-title monkey because I was born under the chinese horoscope sign of the monkey. From what I’ve read about my personality, one thing is true…  WE ARE CURIOUS CREATURES! My curiosity has been both a blessing and curse. On the one hand it has pushed me to take riskier choices to satisfy my curiosity for the experience and on the other hand, I often do things even though I know that there are negative consequences that will follow. For instance, I know that I will be afraid of the dark for a week if I watch a horrific movie but yet I watch these horrific movies to see if I would get scared. Is this twisted or what? it’s a good thing that North American “horror” movies aren’t that scary. In fact most of them are laughable and I am able to sleep like a baby at night.

So what is this curious thing I did that I think I may or may not regret? Well I signed up for Netflix and watched Vegucated. I knew that vegans didn’t eat meat for moral and ethical reasons. I LOVED meat (notice the past tense) until I watched that documentary. I will never forget the images that I saw and it was more horrific than any other horror movie that I have seen. The images of the animals faces haunt me when I look at any consumer meat products. I always thought “maybe I could be a vegetarian because at least I could eat eggs and dairy products. BUT after being vegucated, I learn that even chickens that lay eggs are unnaturally confined in a tiny space with many other chickens. Their beaks are cut off so they won’t peck at each other because they are pressed up against each other with no where to move.

How the dairy cows are treated is just as bad. My heart can’t help but to feel heavy when I think of the poor female cow that is artificially inseminated by a strange man that forces his entire arm with a syringe up her most intimate part. On top of that once she gives birth, her baby is taken away from her to become another dairy cow. If it’s a male, he’ll probably become “veal” or a “beef” cow.

It is because of this I decided to try the vegan lifestyle and this blog is all about it. So I started Aug. 1, 2014.
